Phase 1 completed

So I've split moving into 4 Phases.

Phase 1: Get all pets and myself to new house.

Phase2: Finish physical move into knew storage container.

Phase 3: Have horses shipped up and all fencing/shelter finished.

Phase 4: House SOLD!

So far I have completed Phase 1 and Phase two is nearly complete. I moved all the small critters, kitties, snakes, etc. on Monday April 21st, then on Friday the 25th, I moved up myself and the dogs. So basically everything I need to live, clothes, laptop, etc. is here. I have spent the last two weeks, preparing our storage container, and packing up stuff at the house. We are about 85% packed. This coming friday May 2nd, my husband will be home (he's a OTR Truck driver), and we are going to finish Phase 2. Which means we need to load up whatever is in our current storage container (not much thank gawd, after I've brought 6 truckloads to the dump!!!) and load whatever is left in the house (mostly furniture), and bring it up here to unload it all in the new storage container.

The farm I'm living on is my fathers (also a OTR Truck driver), he's home currently but should be heading out soon. Which will be good, because that means that i'll be at the house pretty much by myself. My grandfather does live here too. We are taking a few weeks to decide if I either want to A: build a new house a few fields over, or B: buy the house I grew up in. I really sorta want to build :) so I can be close by. Especially because the horses will remain here, even if I do buy the house I grew up in.

Phase 3 will be completed in a couple of weeks. Yesterday Dew, my grandfather and myself put up the first paddock, when dew gets back on wed/thurs we will put up the second paddock, and attach the electric wires.

Here is a picture of the first paddock. The next one will be sorta right next door, but back a little bit. I am stressing a bit on making sure everything is ready, but I'm sure everything will be fine.

And of course Phase 4....just as soon as someone wants to buy our stupid place. We *need* to get rid of it. I hate it there, and it sucks! It would make a great refinishing project.

Sid and bramble had to christian the move by full on attacking each other in the field! Stupid basenji's...they are doing well though, limping a little bit, but have greatly improved since friday. Dumbasses. But they seem to have resolved their differences.

Indy

It was the first really HOT day of the year. It was 79 degrees here today. It was very nice, but sooo freaking hot for not being used to the warm weather yet. Indy did the best she could, she dug into the dirt and just lay down for most of the day. She is the farm dog at Robyn's place. Isn't she sweet?

The Great Move....

So, about a week ago, I got laid off from work. The delightful City of Portland decided that they needed to cut 98 jobs so that they could stay afloat. Unfortunately one of those jobs was me. They said that I of course could try and bump someone else out of their job. How could any decent person bump another person into not having a job??? It just is beyond me, I can't fathom it. Besides the only jobs up for me to *bump* would cause a very large pay scale cut, and would make it nearly impossible to keep our house. So we decided that it would be best if we put the house up on the market, and move. My father owns a very large farm in Northern Maine. He has been begging me for YEARS to move back up there. It is where I am from and it is gorgeous country up there. So finally I gave him the call he's been waiting for.....

Needless to say he is Ubber excited!!!! And so our moving process has begun. It is a bit hard to move, only because I am doing so on my own. Because my husband is a truckdriver, he isnt around to get ready for the move. We have scheduled him to use his home time to help finish the physical move on May 2nd. I will have completed the packing by that point, and will have all of the pets moved by April 25th. They are going to love it up there, and so will I!

Jonza :)

So, I finally have a horse of my own :). Her name is Jonza...She's a retired stdbred broodmare/racer. She's really cute and has some potential for atleast doing first level/second level dressage. Although we don't *think* she will be able to go further than that...who knows?? She has been in training with Robyn since September, and is just a great little lady. She has her redheaded moments, but in general is really sweet and willing. She has a nice rear, and doesnt have the typical stdbred look :). Robyn needed a GOOD home for her with someone that could handle her ha! and I *needed* a horse and have a great place for her...just as soon as I get the fencing up that is. She is making the move even easier, because now....even if I'm bored I can ride! ha! *yeah*!!! I'm so excited....I'll be posting more about her adventures on the Jonza blog...which was just my horsey blog.

Queen Veronica Vanessa Valkor

Meet Miss VV, her full name is Queen Veronica Vanessa Valkon. She is a California Banded King snake. I got her from the Reptile Expo in Manchester NH at the Radisson Hotel. I love her, she is so pretty. So I decided to name her such a long *regal* sounding name because she is a King snake. I've been looking forward to getting a snake for years. So I decided it was time. She is real sweet, and not head shy at all. She has a pretty little V on her head that you can see in the picture, hence the name with the V's. More pictures to come.

Bed of nails.

On the short little stroll home I came across this oldly bunched set of nails and screws. I think they look neat all coiled together. It makes me wonder who connected them all and why? Copper wire is all twisted around each of them almost like a little fence, for little baby mice ha!

Spring is here

The first signs of spring are here! You wouldnt really know it was spring considering the cold temps and crazy wind gusts. But all in all....Its here, or very nearly here. Dew came home today, well sort of he still needs to make a delivery tomorrow in Agusta, but atleast he gets to spend the night here. Tomorrow will be his official home time.

So these are these are the photos i took of some springtime buds that are popping up in the neighbor's yard. They are very pretty.

To bitch or not to bitch.....

So....one of my pet peeves has been popping up infront of my home. Look at the following three pictures....See the trend???

Notice the trend? the traffic is ALL parked going UP the hill....like they are supposed to, then you have these three parked in the wrong direction. ARGH, it is so annoying! Parking the wrong way makes it so they take up more space than they should. Its dangerous to go in/out of spots like this. To me this is just plain LAZY! Besides...its not like they are just *running in* to grab something. I live here....and I see them parked like this the next morning. I'm not the traffic police, but sometimes I wish I could go out and ticket their sorry asses.

Its just that there is not nearly enough parking in my neighborhood, much less when people park without utilizing the space effectively. Part of me wants to *map out* parkins spaces down the road. AND yell at the people who park on the street when they have their *own* driveway. So it makes people like me, without a driveway to suffer. They have no qualms of parking in their driveway during snow induced parking bans...or when its a wednesday night (street cleaners block off certain streets every week depending on the day) and we can't park on our street. Why does that make any sort of a difference when its the regular day?

As it is, because of these assholes if you even consider coming home after 6pm...goodluck to being able to park anywhere near your house, and if you have groceries or other such crap to carry into the house....sucks to be you.

Pet Peeve number two:

People leaving large amounts of ungawdly TRASH wherever they see fit.....ARGH! WHY on earth would you think it customary to put a rather ugly peice of funiture on the sidewalk, when its raining....Obviously no one is going to claim it as a cool peice and take it home....So now I have to look at this peice of crap for however long it takes for someone to get rid of it. The city provides a *big trash day* as we call it, where they will take large peices like this to the dump...free of charge. What a thought!!!! To bad its atleast another TWO MONTHS before they begin this yearly ritual.....

Which I do enjoy. Even though there is a lot of the above crap EVERYWHERE, like practically in front of every house, and definately in front of every apartment building. You can find some really cool stuff! I found a really nice set of shelving that fit perfectly into my then disorganized closet! I also found a really nice set of muffin pans, a tall plant in a really nice pot, plenty of pretty plant pots, canvases of ugly paintings that I could *reuse* (meaning paint over ha!), etc.

So thats what I saw today that really sorta annoyed me, and added to the many reasons why I hate living in Portland, and how desperately I need to leave this place. But while we are stuck with our current home in need of many repairs, I can bitch, do some home renovations and dream of the day I can leave this place and live on a pretty little farm in the country :).
