Today was time for another doctors appointment. I'm not sure which week I'm at now...but I think its around 27? Anyways, its the first appointment that I've been to that I've gained weight! I've ether stayed the same or lost weight up until now. I gained 9lbs in the last four weeks! AND my belly has grown from 23 inches to 33 inches! Craziness. *Right on track* is what the Doctor said, and of course he mentioned that he wants me to try and stay within 15-20lbs of gain. We shall see how that goes. I still am not eating really that much, and still having trouble eating a lot of different foods. Currently its mostly Cereal and Fruit....although some veggies are good too.
Anyways. It was very shocking to me, to have gained so much so quickly! But I suppose thats what is suppose to happen to an extent.
This afternoon after the appointment I went to Target and got a no skid/no tip dog dish for Reacon (one of my ball pythons), as his old bowl is really quite to small for him. He can't really get in and soak without dumping all his water out on the bedding. I hope he likes it. Then I went and got Dew sandwich meats and peanut butter for work. Of course it started raining right when I left to go on errands, but when I was finally leaving South Portland to come home, I saw a rainbow. Which was fun, the first one this year. Then it went away as I was getting on 295. Then after I got out from Shaw's picking up the Peanut Butter, there was another one :). So 2 Rainbows in one afternoon.
It was a pretty decent day. I rented a movie... 27 dresses... it was cute, definitely a chick flick.....I got the rest of the snakies clean, and the pups had a good afternoon romping around the livingroom as I was watching the movie.
But for now I need to call Dew, and head to bed.

Fire
You can't have a camp site without a fire pit :).
This was the fire my Mother and I were sitting at when we were *talking* too loudly.
Pathway to the beach, the long way really, but it was a pretty short hike through the woods, taking about 15 minutes to reach the beach vs about an 8 minute walk by the road. With large stones and wooden pathways to walk on as the ground was really quit wet.
Mushrooms
One of the intriguing points of my little camping trips was the fact that there were mushrooms EVERYWHERE. All sorts of mushrooms. I took a few photos of the ones I thought had the best color, or the neatest location. Yellows, reds, oranges, etc. There were even some black ones, but they were relatively ugly, and din't offer any good reason to photograph them.
Moose Watching
On friday night, my stepfather Darrell had a wonderful idea.....Lets go Moose watching in true tourest style! Ha! So we went driving down Route 16 looking for moose at dusk. We drove quite a few miles out, then as we were driving home when it was just nearly dark, the moose started to come out of the woods. We saw a total of 3, before going home, and I did manage to get some photos, although VERY dark, you *can* see the two moose :) one just to the right of the telephone pole, and the other alittle to the left of the halfway point between the telephone pole and the left side of the photo. Of course there was a little bit of drama, when Darrell was backing up so that I could get a better shot with the guy's behind us high beam lights on. He drove into a really large hole on the side of the road, but luckily its a big Toytoa Tacoma, so he drove out of it really quite easily....It could have been bad ha!
So Moose :)
Rangley Photos
Trip to Rangley
I went to Rangley this last weekend with my parents. I drove the 2 1/2 to get there thursday after work, and came home Saturday evening. It's a wonderful little state park with only 50 camp sites. Unlike Sebago State Park they really enforce *Quiet* hours and the "No Alcohol" policy. The enforcement has a lot to do with the major difference between the people who go to Sebago vs Rangley. Sebago has a lot of the *weekend party* types, drive up for th weekend, its not a far distance from Portland, Lewiston/Auburn, etc. Whereas Rangley has a lot of the quiet camper types. Lights out by 10, all noise except for the woods after 10. It takes a long time to get there, so only those who want true relaxation in the outdoors will travel so far to get it. Not all the campsites were full, but we had a few neighbors around us. One specific camper took the *quiet* hours soooooo seriously that seriously 15 minutes after 10pm, the camp ranger came up to our site, and told us we needed to whisper, as we were talking too loud. Neither my Mom nor I had been drinking (I obviously wasn't as I am pregnant, and my mother is a recovering Alcoholic, and hasn't had an alcoholic beverage in over 8 years!), and we weren't talking very loud, my stepfather was asleep in the camper behind us, and hadn't heard us at all. For the rest of my time there it was an ongoing joke that were were party animals and that we needed not to talk so loud :). Silly really.
A great part of camp was this little chipmunk that would hang out around our camp site. If he was around, we could make *kissy* noises and he would come scurrying over and grab up bread crumbs that we would leave out for him. As you can see, he came very close, but wouldn't let me touch him. But I did get a decent photo. He never stood still for very long though. I know you shouldn't feed the wildlife, but he was just too cute....besides I don't see the harm in feeding a little chipmunk....raccoons, and skunks, and foxes, etc...yeah I understand why not to leave food out for them. We cleaned up the site of food each night so that we wouldn't attract other animals....although I did forget about a package of open granola in my truck, which on Friday night I left the windows down.....*oops* there was granola and an ripped apart bag all through the front seat in the morning. I think my little chipmunk friend decided it was a yummy treat :).

There were incredible views in the area too. There are mulitple mountains and multiple lakes. We drove up Route 17 for a few miles and came to a little scenic turn off, and took a photo of the view....above. I'm not sure what lake it is, but the Rangley lake is the one *behind* where I am standing to take this photo. Which of course you can't see because I am standing on the side of a mountain.
There was a little swimming area too. On the way down the path I saw this very large very old and unfortunately dead white birch tree. It seemed so pretty reaching towards the sky, and amazing that the foliage from the surrounding trees had not filled the gap yet. There were birch trees everywhere, I've never seen so many yellow (or gold) birch in one area before. Although we didn't see and black birch....
The beach was pleasant once the Park Rangers had cleaned it up a bit from all the Goose poo that was everywhere. They had to chase the Geese away every morning from the grassy banks leading down to the water. It was a relative steep decent to the water, and was a grass bank straight to the water. So they had three old concrete steps leading into the water. The concrete was a rough cut so as not to be slippery with all the water. Sand had been poured in the lake entries after the steps. The lake was filled with rocks, from the size of your palm to the size of your head, and some even bigger, almost all of them were smooth from years of wear. So it wasn't too bad to walk on once you were up to your waist in the water. The water was very cool, it wasn't as cold as the ocean would be, but definitely cooler than Sebago, or any other lake that I've been too. It was so refreshing. I'm sure that a lot of it has had to do with our mediocre start to the summer. Of course now, we are definitely in summer full force! I wish I could have been in that lake today.

Happy Day :)
Good news today! While at work, at the City of Westbrook, I got a call from my old boss from the City of Portland, and he was seeing if I could come back to work for them!!!!! I got laid off due to budget cuts a little over a year ago, it sucks because I loved it there, and it was a great job! This is some wonderful news for me. I've been with the City of Westbrook since the end of May, it is a temporary position that I've been filling while one of the girls is out on Maternity leave. She will be back in two weeks, then I would have been jobless......again.
My old boss said that this morning he was notified of an issue with one of this staff leaving, immediately thought of me, knew I was at the City of Westbrook and called. I had just got off the phone with one of the girls at the City of Portland too! I needed registration information, so he knew I was on today :D. Shockingly happy :D....... It will be for at least the next 3 months which is great, right up till my due date. We will find out if it can be a permanent position after a few weeks, which is HUGE! I'm not sure who it was that is causing me to get my job back....(even if it is temporary), I am thinking it is the girl that transferred to the department.
Oh happy day!
Of course to top it all off, my last customer of the day was a complete and utter BITCH! She was pissed at me just because I was there. She wanted Vanity plates, which you can only get at the Department of Motor Vehicles.....which I am NOT. I work for the Municipality. We are full service (the City of Portland is not) so we are able to give out plates, transits, etc. But we are not allowed to do Vanity Plates, that is specifically through the DMV. Well apparently she called us and we said that the DMV does vanity plates...which is true. I'm not sure *who* she talked to. It may have been me, who knows, but if someone asks me Where do I get my vanity plates...I tell them.....But unless asked I don't go into the details on when to go, when you can go, etc. Because it takes to long to explain the whole process, when it doesn't matter for them to know beforehand. In *most* cases.....
So she comes in this afternoon after going to the DMV to which they sent her to me, BECAUSE her registration was expired. Which means she has to register her car THEN she can get her vanity plates. The DMV (in maine...) can not accept excise taxes for the individual towns to register vehicles, so the individual is required to go to their Municipality FIRST...and then depending on how many services that municipality offers (ie: full service....Westbrook....or re-reg only...Portland) they may or may not have to go to the DMV to finish. In this case, she would have to go BACK to the DMV to get the Vanity Plates AFTER she pays for her Excise with me.
She was NOT happy that she had to come back to the City of Westbrook, and of course since I was the one waiting on her, I'm the one that got the *lecture* She was freaking out because she believed she was being run around, and didn't want to have to go back to Motor Vehicles, and wanted me to do it all, and wanted me to call them to fix it for her. Which I can't do...its her responsibility to go and get her vanity plates, sign and pay for them, etc. She asked my name which I gave to her, and spelled out. She said she would like to know who the manager is so that she can speak with them. So I told her it was Sue *********** and that she was here today and she could speak to her. But of course in a huff she said well I don't have TIME for that today because I have to go back to DMV.......Of course there was a lot more back and forth, which included her yelling at me a lot, and not listening to my explanations on how the process works....No wonder why she didn't know anything to begin with she listens to what she wants to hear. *grumble* stupid lady!
But the day was STILL a great one. I don't let people like her get to me. :)

Back to School
I've been toying with the idea of going back to school. I had originally planned to get my Master's in Animal Nutrition. However, I am finding that line of study restrictive in what I can do for work. Being laid off/demoted twice in the last year my financial life really sucks right now. I can't even come close to finding a decent job, and one that utilizes my major seems to be forever out of reach right now.
Its going to be even harder now that I'm going to have a baby *sigh*, but I know I can do it. I need to do it. So I found a CNA program offered at the local hospital. I think what I can do is complete that course get a job being a CNA and work towards being a RN. They make very good money, and the need is great. I'd be able to find a job just about anywhere doing that. Then me and dew can finally be a bit more financially secure. Right now its a little too scary.
My current temp job runs out in September.....The baby is due in November...I've applied to a few places in preparation of being jobless, but not one has called me back. But when all the experience I have is retail/municipality related there isn't a whole lot out there :(.
Luckily the school that is within 5 mins of our apartment UNE has a good Rn program....Now of course leaves me trying to get accepted for next fall or maybe even this spring ;). I figure if I apply for this spring...hopefully I'd atleast be put on the waiting list. Cross your fingers :)...I think I'd do a decent job as a nurse. Anyone want to donate money to help me pay for it? ha!

Grumpies
Today was a short day at work, which was good. I was getting a little annoyed with some of the customers. Two people in particular...and they just happened to be almost back to back. The first was a woman, probably in her late 30's early 40's or so. She seemed to be in a bad mood from the start, mainly just overall grumpy. I asked her your typical questions when registering a new car, which for her included extra paperwork because she bought it out of state. I asked if she had gotten rid of a car and got this one. To which she said no, and I asked what type of plates she wanted. In Maine (like I'm sure in most states) there are plates that raise money for different organizations, ie: Breast Cancer Research. Obviously getting annoyed at my line of questioning....which is only the questions I am *supposed* to ask she cuts me off saying she already has plates. Now keep in mind I had *just* asked her if she had a car before this that she got rid of....can't have plates without a car.......Anyways...So I ask her if she knows her plate number. She snaps a No. I look it up by her last name, find out that they expired in July, so there is no credits she can do. With no credits, and plates being the same cost in this case she chose to get new ones.
So, finally I get to printing out all the pages, registration, sales tax form, and title application. While managing only a few sighs from the customer for I am guessing how *long* I am taking. Just keep in mind I am one of the fastest typers there...Anyways...I hand her the first sheet that she needs to sign, the registration form. I tell her, please answer questions one and two then sign and print your name on the bottom, as I point to each item. Okay (with a snap in her voice) and grabs the paper to read it. A few seconds go by, and she says what do you want me to do with this? So I repeated, answer questions 1 and 2, sign and print.....pointing AGAIN...To which she says I already gave you the mileage. So I say, I don't need the mileage, I need you to answer qustions 1 and 2, sign and print.....So she finally answers questions 1 and 2, then reads question 3 and says I don't have a limo or a taxi. So yet again I say I only need the first two questions, the others do not apply to you. So she signs the bottom and tries to hand it back to me. So I have to repeat again print your name under your signature. When she's finally finished this, I move on to the sales tax form. On which as I point to the spot I say please put your SSN here, and sign here. I paused at each, and she shook her head. She grabbed the paper, and angrily said where do you want my SSN? I show her...again...and repeat for her to sign next to it. She puts the social, then asks where to sign it. (argh!)
Somehow she has managed to listen to where she has to sign and date on the title form which is next. And she was finally done. Now keep in mind, I wouldn't have been so annoyed with her if she didn't have such an attitude. Every single statement that came out of my mouth was met with a contemptuous type of reply. I don't know if she had some sort of a disability that makes it hard for her to understand, or easily forget what I was asking of her. But to be so rude and snappy when I was being very nice and trying to make sure she understood when I told her something.
The NEXT difficult customer was a guy, and he did have a disorder. He couldn't speak. Although I didn't *know* he couldn't speak at first. Why would I? He gets in line, the ONLY person waiting in line, as I was walking back from the bathroom (the other clerk already had a customer) He waited approximately 30 seconds for me to get to my seat and tell him I could help him. Which I had to repeat....even though he was staring right at me. I still didn't know he couldn't speak. He throws a piece of paper at me, which turns out to be his tax bill. So I ask him if he is just going to pay August or more/less. So I would know what I needed to enter in the payment screen. With an angry noise he snatches the paper from me, and points to the name on the bill. At this point I realize he can't speak. So I asked if the name was wrong, since he was pointing to it, and it was a Cynthia. He made another angry noise and started tracing out the perforated edge of the first tax payment. Which I say you want to pay your taxes. To which he throws the paper back at me. So I separate the perforated August portion, and sit and wait while he rummages through his checkbook. Grabs the bill from me again, looks at it, throws it back at me, and writes out the check...which he throws at me.....
I get the payment processed give him back the remaining bill with his receipt. With another angry noise he grabs them, throws the chair back, and slams the door on his way out. I'm not exactly sure why he was so mad. He wasn't late in paying, he didn't have to wait in line for more than a few seconds, and I never said anything mean to him. It was like he was in a bad mood before he came. He may have been mad that I didn't know he was mute....but how would I have known just by looking at him? Or maybe he was mad I didn't know exactly what he wanted? But throwing a bill at me with four stubs for four due dates doesn't tell me what you want. Especially since everyone that has been coming in this week to pay there taxes (2 weeks early) have paid everywhere from $100 towards the bill to those that pay the full 2010 tax year. And there are those who got the bills in error after recently selling their home, but the bill was still sent to the old owner.
Geesh! this week has been just full of angry people. The *good* angry person who was very rude to me, specifically about my tattoo (to which I still brightly said have a good day) did come back the next morning to apologize for being mean. Which was a huge shocker. People yell at me, or treat me like an idiot on a regular basis, but never has one of those people come back and apologized! So good news at the end of the bad.
So that was my day today. Angry people at work. Leave at noon, just to drive and sit at the Doctors while I drink this horrid orange syrup and then have a lady draw my blood after I sit in the waiting room for over an hour.... It wasn't the usual lady that does the blood draw...and she really stabbed me. It is definitely going to bruise, as its still very sore. Typically you barely feel it....if they do it right and are good at it. And it rarely will bruise after. Not with this lady....Not to mention she tied the tourniquet REALLY tight. It made my fingers go numb! That doesn't normally happen either...I've had my blood taken a lot in the last few months.....and not once had the typical lady done such a horrid job.
Anyways. I did have a BLT for lunch which was yummy....The only perk for getting out early :)

23 weeks.......
So, I am 23 weeks along now. I only know that because I had a doctors appointment a couple days ago and they told me so :). I am probably one of the only pregnant women who doesn't automatically know what her current week is. HA! I don't understand why so many women think its so much fun being prego.....I find it incredibly obnoxious, uncomfortable, and unsatisfying. I can't seem to find really anything worth eating that will satisfy me. I have a hard time eating anything concerning meat, veggies are sporadic in what I like/want....I am doing pretty good with cereal...kiwi's....cheese/crackers....yogurt....and a few other random things. I can't do sweets either really now that I mention it. I had a brownie today, but couldn't finish it after the first two bites because it was sooooo sweet. No birthday cake, icecream....bleh.
It was however, very exciting to feel her for the first time. And I was secretly happy that Dew's mom doesn't like the name I picked out. Kyra....Kyra Hayden. I think its a wonderful name, and it sounds so pretty. Although I'm a bit stressed about making sure I have everything for her that I need......It is fun to go to yard sales on the weekends looking for fun stuff and clothes for dirt cheap! Last weekend I got a hardcover version of James and the Giant Peach, a few pony books, 3 shirts, 1 pair of pants, 2 onsies, 2 pairs of socks, 1 bib, and 1 soft cloth for $5.25 :) I don't know how I could buy anything brandnew, when you can get next to that for soooo cheap!
We have three more yard sales that are promoting baby stuff this weekend to hit up. Although we will be a little tight on money the next two weeks as dew's car needs to be fixed....Muffler and such. So is life eh?
